    St Ultan gathered to his monastery at Ardbraccan all the babes whose mothers had died and caused them to be fed with milk through teats of cows cut off for the purpose.
    This was probably the first recorded instance of the feeding bottle in use, as it is, probably the first occasion on which an institution for orphan children was established in Ireland.
