    to say exact date) the original Chapel or Church of Kilcloon was built on the spot which is now known as the Churchyard. The next Chapel to be built (a mudwalled structure) was on the opposite side of the road. This second chapel was in existence until the year 1832 A.D. when a third one was erected. On the completion of the new Church the old one was converted into the parish school.
    When a new school was built in 1841 the old school (or Chapel) was converted into a dwelling house.
    Moyglare: In Moyglare stand the remains of an old castle - once the fortress of the Fitzgeralds. It is connected by an underground passage with the old Cromwellian castle of Mulhussey.
