Story (My father told me this story.)
I often sat by the fireside and listened to my Father and Uncle talking over the history of dear old Kilbride, and surroundings.
To begin with the old Church and (an) churchyard. The erection of the church dates back as far as the thirtheenth century and was one of the nicest in the Diocese of Meath, it was constructed of small round stones, and the arches some of the finest to be got. The moulded stones of which were lost or stolen never could be found. It was surrounded by a stone wall, and now stands a ruin in the centre of the Graveyard. Outside the entrance-gate facing the North-East on the corner of the wall at the end of the hedge was St Brigid's well, then desecrated by some tinkers who washed thier soiled clothes in it; it afterwards sprung up on the opposite of the road and is still there for anyone to see it.
