  1. In the year 1847 the famine was in the greatest heights. The people had to eat the dead asses from pits where they thrown.
    The famine was caused mostly by the people not minding a double drop of potatoes. They dug half of the potatoes and threw them in the ditches.
    Mrs Blake had to make a big pot of porridge for the Lawyers of Culmullen. That had to do them for a week.
    During the famine there was a priest named Fr Burke who helped the poor a lot. He gave food and money to the poor a lot. He said it was terrible to see the people eating each other when they would of huner.
    One day when Fr Burke was ploughing in a field during the famine he heard a voice from Heaven saying "Leave down the ploughs and take up the books". After that he went to Maynooth College and was ordained
