    Long ago at wakes there were pipes, tobacco and snuff at wakes, and people sang songs.
    This actually at a wake in Everitts near here about twenty years ago at an old man's wake.
    At an earlier date it was the custom to play games at wakes. Each one had a part. One was to say a piece and the others had to repeat it
    "The house that Jack built"
    repeated backwards was generally used.
    This was 40 or 50 years ago and has long fallen into disuse.
