    Hedge Schools
There was a Hedge School on the Oriel Road near Mt. Oriel. It was taught by Catherine Mc Cann.
Old people remember hearing of it and of people who were taught there.
The Belpatrick School was built by the Singletons, landlord of the place. It existed before the National Schools came into existence.
On being made a national school it was attended by the older people,
The oldest man now living who attended is Mr William Reid of Belpatrick. He is about 74 yrs.
