  1. In March 1934 I heard a knock at my door one night. On opening it there was no one there. A little bird came tapping at my school window for about a week, often tapping persistently. Next a very dear friend died quite suddenly.
There was a snowstorm that year and we could not get about so were not able to have news of her illness. I always thought these were warnings.
A year before my husband had an accident and this same lady told me she heard a knock at her door the night before, but there was no one there when she opened it.
