   Thornton died in Dundalk in 1829. It is not known where he was born. He was a tramp. The following is a sample of his composition:- One harvest day, I truly say, Two women stout and strong, To illuminate each other's fate, Let loose their slanderous tongue. Nancy the Bread she was in dread, Her spirits they were down, But still she drew the precious blood From noble Kitty Brown. The whole is not available. Having got drunk in Tallanstown, Thornton, after a night in the black hole of the local police barracks, was next morning brought for trial before Lord Louth.
