Micky Larrissy, who lived in Anthurstown, kept an outside car for hire. One day he was approached by Canon Macken P.P. (died 1901).
"I'd get you to drive me to Dundalk, Michael", said the Canon, "if I thought the day would be fine".
"Troth! Canon", said Michael, who wanted to earn a fair shillings, "it will be fine. I seen a robin singing on top of a bush this morning".
As they were coming home from Dundalk that evening it started to spill "heavens hard".
"What about that robin you saw this morning!" said the angry Canon.
"D - his sowl!" said Micky, "It must have been a young one!".
    Proverbs:
"There's always a fine hour on Saturday - to dry the priests' shirt".
"What Friday begins with, it ends with"
"A salmon sky: not long wet and not long dry".
