  2. Patrick Agnew died in Durham, England, in 1819 at the age of sixty. He contributed charades and rebuses to "Old Moore's Almanac." One of his poems is "Bess of Mullacloe."
    Mullacloe is about a mile N. of the town of Ardee and quite near Roseybrook.

    I've seen the fuchsia and the rose,
    The violet in full bloom,
    I've seen the meadows gaily decked
    With choicest gems in June,
    But to my eyes appeared a pearl
    More bright some time ago:
    She was a humble tradesman's daughter
    Who lived in Mullacloe.
