    Nowadays the young boys and girls never sit in on an evening to listen to tales from the olden times, but go out to pictures and other amusements, so that the old people have forgotten their tales.
    I listened to some of the old songs which they sang but the song I liked best was "The Irish Rapparees".
    "Righ Shamus he has gone to France and left his crown behind,
    Ill luck be theirs, both day and night, put running in his mind.
    Lord Lucan followed after with his slashers brave and true.
    And now the doleful keen is raised
    "What will poor Ireland do?
    "What will poor Ireland do?
    "What will poor Ireland do?
