in Haggardstown. The teams played were the Geraldines. There were fifteen men on each side. They picked out the best players. It was parish against parish. The Geraldines won by two points. The other team only scored seven points.
The Geraldines wore green and white and Louth wore red and white. The referee had a whistle and when one team lifted the ball the referee blew the whistle and the other team got a free kick. It was a big leather ball. It was never kicked across the country. There were two goal posts at each end of the field and when the ball went in between them it was a goal.
