- Garments of Long Ago.The men of long ago wore linen or flannel shirts and báiníns and also curduroy knee-breeches and tall silk hats. They also wore white collars and cravats which were jet black and the men made beautiful bows of them in front. They also wore homespun stockings and boots. They also used red handkerchiefs.The women wore linen caps and black flannel skirts. Also small shawls were worn round the shoulders black skirts with hoods, long homespun stockings and shoes.Long ago the men wore swallowtail coats corduroy trousers and high silk hats.
