  1. It was an old custom in every house long ago that before people would go to bed that they should sweep up the hearth, bring in spring-water and if any young lads were after washing their feet that the feet water should be thrown out. This used be done in every house because the old people thought that the fairies used some in the night when they used be sleeping.
It was said that about sixty years ago there lived Lissycasey on old woman and the one night she forgot to bring in fresh water and out in the night a good while after she going to bed she was suddenly awakened by the noise of pans and buckets being kicked around the kitchen. She got up as quickly as possible and when she came out of the kitchen she saw that it was full of little men and women and they accused her of not brining the water. They her that she should do certain peace when she reached the wetland if it ever again happened that she did not bring the water for them before she went to bed they would bring her away all together.
