Potatoes are grown on my farm. one acre is sown every year. My father prepares the ground and the potatoes are sown in drills. The drills were made long ago with wooden ploughs. The people help each other. The people weed the potatoes and earth them. When the potatoes are picked they are stored in a house or pitted outside. The local names for potatoes are Kerr Pinks, Arran Banner and British Queen. Potatoes were used long ago to make starch.
