- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)On the Templemore road not far from Templetuohy stands an old ivy covered tree know n as the Tailor’s Bush. It is said that a tailor lived in a house nearby. One evening a man came and asked hi for work. He had a lot of sewing to do and was only goo glad to et someone to help him. The tailor proposed to stay up late that night to do the work. About one o clock in the night a loud knocking was heard at the door. The tailor turned very pale but got up and went out, after a while he came back and shut the door. They were about to begin work again when the knock was repeated. The tailor went out and returned after a few minutes. A third time the knock was heard and that time before going out he paid the man for his work and showed him his room and told him to go to bed. He then went out but did not return. Next morning he was found dead under the bush, which thus got its name by his employee. From that time it is said that he haunted the bush and up to a few years ago some people would not pass by it at night. Written by Patrick Hanrahan. Told by John Hanrahan, Tullow, Age 63 Templetuohy
