- Many traditional weather omens are connected with the behaviour of animals, fowl, and insects, others with the sky and air. We find that the weather is of more importance to them than to human beings. It would be surprising if they had not learned to protect themselves from it as from other dangers. Hence in the country, the movements of animals birds and even insects have been watched for the indications of approaching weather. The following are some of the omens generally observed before rain.
Horses continuously stamp and if under a cart, rub their necks against the shaft.
Sheep and horses that have been feeding on high ground return to low ground.
