  1. About 1914 it was customary for the people when going home from Cuairc (rambling [gambling?] in the neighbour's house) to hear strange noises passing down the Curreeny road on to Kilcommon. It resembled the noise made by a number of common cars going the road.
    Sometimes it was heard for a distance of one mile and lasted for half an hour. It was not heard since 1918. One time it was so loud that the people say "It shook the nails in their boots." It was always heard in Winter but never in Summer.
