My home district is Clashnevin Lower in the Parish of Ballinree, in the electorial division of Ballymackey and in the barony of Lower Ormond.

about ten more. Some of these houses have disappeared and the ruins of others can still be seen.
There are several people in the district over seventy and I do not think any of them know Irish. Some of them could tell you stories in English. Their names are Mr and Mrs R Minogue, Knockahunna, Mick Brown, Newtown, Denis O'Meara, Clashnevin and James Mc Grath, Hermitage.
A good many people from the district went to America and other families have died out namely Kanes, Kielys and Haydens. The townland is mentioned in a song about Norwood Races. I do not know it but some of the old people I have mentioned know it.
