- Drawing, this object was used for tracing the "Shimes" or grooves onn the rim of the barrel.Barrel making was carried on in this district over fifty years ago.
Method - Long oak logs were split into staves. The staves were planed and prepared. A tress hoop was placed on the ground and the staves were placed in position on the inside of the whoop. A second tress hoop was placed around the top of the staves and a fire was kindled in the middle probably to give the staves a shape.
