  1. Downey's Wedding
(Edmond Downey was almost blind. He could scrape a few tunes on the violin, and so added to his income as a stonebreaker.
    I
Did you hear of the wedding that happened of late
In the land of Knocklara in Bennetts estate.
The Admiral Downey through mist and through fog
Got married to Mary O'Brien from the bog.
    II
He had a wedding as you may plain see.
He invited all the neighbours in the locality.
He invited them all to dance and to sing.
And stay up till morn to animate him.
    III
He invited the Hurleys, O'Connors and Briens,
The Launes and the Tobins who gratefully joined
To consume Murphy's porter and drink Downey's tay
And heartily laugh at poor Ned the next day.
