    About sixty years ago, ab boy named James Kelly of Rathkeale was walking on the road a short distance from St. James's well. Sitting at the road side was a woman and a young girl. The woman called him and asked his name and also enquired where St. James's well was. He told her and showed her the water. She then asked him to go home and ask leaf of his parents to come to the well for nine Saturday evenings before sunset and one nine sunday mornings before sunrise, to throw the water on her daughter, who was suffering from a evil on her breast.
    The boy got permission and came before sunset on Saturday evenings. Then he continued to come for nine consecutive Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings. The evil began to disappear after the seventh day and the girl seemed to be completely cured on the last morning. The woman and her daughter came from Tarbert, Co. Kerry. The young girl after years got married and was the mother of a large family and she
