  1. The local forge is situated on the hillside about a quarter of a mile from the village. There is only one forge in our parish and the owner is Martin Miles. It is built with stones and it is roofed with timber and felt.
Many debates are thrashed out in the forge every day. He has a trough of water for cooling his irons. He got a blessing from the Blessed virgin for making a brooch for her.
She told him to wash his hands in the trough whenever he was tired, and he would become fresh again.
The smith has several implements, the anvil, a hammer, a sledge, tongs, a bellows, and numerous other things.
