Penal Times.About two miles from my district there is a Mass rock, and it is called Clais an Aifrinn. This rock is in a big glen, and Mass was said there often during the Penal times.Convenient to my home, there is a path on which people went to Mass to escape the soldiers. This path was in a very lonely place, where the English often spent nights in ambush.About three quarters of a mile from my home, there is a fort, and it is said that after a priest saying mass, he buried the chalice there. It was found by a man named Tim Quinn while digging potatoes in an earthen entrenchment. It is one of the finest specimens of Celtic art. It was found in the year 1886. It was made up of 354 pieces, including, gold, silver, copper, glass, bronze, brass and lead. A plain cup and three brooches all of bronze were also found with it.Told by(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
