- A Religious StoryIn the townland of Temple Athea not far from this school there is a cave in which mass used to be said in the Penal Days.
Mass used to be said in this cave after the monastery in Temple Athea had been banned by Murcada Totain under Cromwell's forces in sixteen fifty two or by Queen Elizabeth's forces in sixteen forty seven.
It is supposed that Bishop De Lacey's mother used to go to hear mass in this cave about the year.
