    The neat little town of Passage West stands on the right bank of the River Lee about seven miles from Cork. When you arrive at the promontory of Horse Head you get the first view of the picturesque village of Passage West. It is situated on a hill- side over- looking the River Lee and from every point you have a wonderful view of Cork Harbour and of the beautiful woods which surround it.
    The term Passage means a narrow way whether on water or on land. From the mouth of the harbour around the Great Island there are two passages one by Ballinacurra on the east and the other by our district on the West. Our town being situated on the Western passage got the name
