- The local fairs are held in Rathduff, Mallow, and Donoughmore. The fairs are always held in a field or special place.
Buyers did transact business in the country at crossroads, and this is still practised. Fairs that were held formerly are not discontinued.
When an animal is sold money is given for luck. It is called luck money. It is given according to the price paid for the animal sold. When the bargain is made the parties show their agreement by striking hands.
When animals are sold they are marked with chalk or paint so that other buyers would know the animal was bought. The halter is always retrained.
