  1. 1 Cobwebs were used for stopping the flow of blood. I have seen them being used by old men who had cut their skin while shaving.
    2 Ivy leaves were boiled, sugar added, and the resulting liquid drank as a cure for colds.
    3 Chilblains bathed in the juice of boiled ivy and laurel leaves, were supposed to be cured.
    4 Goose-grease was another cure for chilblains.
    5 A roasted onion cured sore throats.
    6 A boiled onion steeped in boiling milk cured all kinds of colds.
    7 The juice of Dandelions was a cure for corns and warts.
    8 Nettles were boiled and the resulting liquid used as a cure for pains by applying to joints.
    9 The "fasting spit" was a cure for eye sores such as stys etc.
    10 Marsh Mallow was used as a cure for all kinds of sores.
    11 Dock leaves were used to cure stings of nettles and insects.
    12 The person that is afflicted with the whooping cough is placed three times under a mare-donkey.
