  1. There is a field in Mr. Burke's farm in the townland of Curraghoe, Glanworth, Co. Cork, known as "The Stone Field".
    In this field there are two large stones, partly in an upright position and leaning against each other. It is said that very long ago two giants resided in the locality. One occupied Dunmahon Castle and the other lived in Curraghoe Castle. The giants had a challenge contest one time, to discover which was the stronger.
    It was agreed that each would cast a heavy stone, from his own castle towards his opponent's Castle, at the same time the stones to be of equal weight. All the people of the surrounding country assembled on the hillside on the appointed day to witness the Contest.
