Connell is the name that is most comnon The houses are all slate. It got its name from the beauty and smoothness of its land. Old people who are over 70 years live in the district. They do not know Irish. There names are as follows:-

A Song was made 16 years ago by Father O' Sullivan who was then a curate in Banteer. It is as follows:-

For beauty's rare and balmy air;
None can compare with fair Clonmeen,
Poets sublime of every clime,
Mt. Hilary has never seen its robes of brown, and purple gown;
When pride looks down on fair Clonmeen.
