- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)When a townland or parish met, the ball was kicked across ditches from one townland to another. Then the people who were not playing carried the coats or overcoats of the players across the country.
Goal-marks were made by throwing a few coats on the ground, and were kept at a distance of ten yards from each other.
Kanturk was and is yet noted for her famous handballers. Mr Twohill of Kanturk was a famous handballer. He was in the final of the World's Championship against an Irish-american in 1903.
Bowling was also played in my district, at Dromalour, Parish of Dromtarriffe, Barony of Duhallow, Kanturk, County Cork. It was played from Mr O'Brien's Cross to Mr Corbetts Cross.- Bailitheoir
