  1. Once there lived in Cuilinn Uí Chaoimh a smith, and every morning a very holy woman named Saint Lateeran came in for a coal of fire to light her fire. She always took it in her apron, and the hot coals never burned the apron. One morning as she was leaving with the coal of fire the smith remarked
"What a nice foot you have!"
She looked down, became proud, and at that same moment the hot coal burned her apron through.
Then she cursed the smith and the forge, and ever since no blacksmith can light a fire nearer than two miles of Cullen.
