    shower of rain forced him to seek shelter in a cabin at Scairte Bitheamhnaigh Coolcorna. A crowd of half-naked hungry looking children were with their mother huddled around the fire. The father was out working his wages a few pence a day. Fr Dunne had about a bag of potatoes which he had collected during the day and was now taking home in a butt. He took sufficient potatoes to fill a pot that he saw in a corner of the house, took off his coat washed and boiled them and when they were ready for eating he left the poor children and their mother to enjoy one full meal. But before he came home he emptied out his full stock
