1. Food in the Olden Times

   In former times - that is about forty or fifty years ago people used eat twice a day, but if they could afford it they would eat three times a day. The people always worked before having breakfast, for example, in the time of raising the potatoes they would have a part of a ridge of potatoes dug before breakfast, but used have a late breakfast. In the morning they used have yellow meal stirabout and milk.
   When they had potatoes plentiful - that is in Autumn - they used eat them twice a day. The greater part of the people used goats' milk, and butter was even made from it. Every house about thirty years ago, generally speaking, had a table which used be hung against the wall when not in use off of this table the people used continually eat.
   Very rarely meat was eaten, because the people could not afford it, but they used eat a lot of fish, particularly ling and haak, and it was very seldom they used vegetables. Tea was
