    the people, instead of sitting around the table sat on the centre of the floor.
    Wheaten bread was eaten. Meat was eaten on special occasions such as Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. On Shrove Tuesday the people made pancakes. November Eve's night was called "Snap apple Night" The people ate after work which was generally about nine o' clock. Tea was first used in this district about 1813. Small basins were used before cups became common.
