  1. One fine summer morning a farmer was taking milk to the creamery. On the way he met another farmer returning from the same place. "Hallo; Mike," said the first farmer, "Do you think it's going to rain?". "I don't think so," replied the second farmer, "Well," said the other man, "I believe it will rain as the curlews are out," "And who is going to put them in?", was the reply.
    After the Great War a great many horses were used in the cities for taking travellers from one station to another.
    This day a soldier hired a jaunting-car to go from the Macroom station to the Dublin station. The horse seemed lazy on the way, and the driver excused his steed by telling his passenger that the horse had been wounded in the war. As soon as the soldier
