    I
    Young mariners and fishermen, came listen
    to my woe,
    My lines are sad and mournful and will
    cause your tears, to flow
    Tis of the good ship Thomas Joseph gone down
    no more to sail
    With six fond souls their loving friends for evermore to wail
    The owner was John Daly from the island of Cape Clear
    He steered them 'oer to Balttmore to get on board new year
    When everything was read and nothing else seemed dull
    He next proposed to start her on a trial
    trip to Schull

    On returning home that evening each face was all aglow
    Tis little they thought their death twould
    be
    But fate, it proved their foe, the starts bright face God had a pace
    Her engines kicked awhile
