- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)potatoes. It was shaped like a boat and made of slender willow rods. There was the type of basket used for the purpose of bringing peat from the bog. Those are still used in the outlying districts of Conemara but have been superseeded by carts in this locality.
The greater number of farmers in those times made baskets for their own use. Matthew O'Mahoney and William Miller (now deceased) of Coolcolaughta were very nice basket makers, and Timothy Mac Carthy (nic-named Casey) could compete with the best.- Bailitheoir
