    60. (contd.)
On the fourth Sunday after the marriage the young couple, accompanied by the friends of the young man, went to mass at the girl's chapel, and after mass repaired to the girl's house where another big day was spent. The young girl usually remained in her parents' home for a few days. This completes the marriage ceremonial of former days. Now-a days, quite different, there may be a small wedding of friends - the couple very often go away after marriage to avoid even this. No éirighe amach - no Sunday home - no sprees or suppers.
There used to be an immense amount of money spent on all these entertainments in the old days, so that with cost of marriage - dress etc. the young man after all his expectations of fortune was practically as poor after marriage as before it.
