    birds by hatching in the fields. It was considered very lucky when a hen arrived to the door with a clutch of chickens. There were different calls for the different kinds of fowl such as "tioc, tioc" for hens, "criosa, críosa" for the ducks and "badly, badly" for the geese. The turkeys were called by "gheib, gheib". If a hen crew she was taken and thrown over the fence between two villages. Some numbers were considered unlucky when setting eggs and sometimes the hatching eggs were marked with paint or soot.
