- Clonenagh is a district about three miles from the large town of Portlaoighse. It is a well-known district on account of the great saint that once lived there. There is only the old ruins of the monastery in it now. There are seven grave-yards or cemeteries as they are called. Somewhere nearby there was a well. One day a farmer's wife who lived near wanted some water to boil for her pigs. So she sent her daughter to the well for the water. The girl was short sighted and got her bucket and soon started off.
