    Then when the potatoes sprout up we hoe them and when they are taller we spray them top preserve them from the blight. Then we are finished until we dig them which we do with a digger and get people to gather them. When they are dug they are put in pits and covered with rushes and clay. In the spring they are taken into the house.
    Potatoes cut for seed are called "sets".
