    barns, winnowed by hand in the winnowing crag. The corn was ground by the women in the quern. They also carded and spun the flax and wool which belonged to the estate.
    Every labourer attached to the estate got a salted hide to make brogues for himself. The teller of these reminiscences remembers his grandfather bemoaning the grand serviceable brogues that were made from these hides.
    The candles for use by the labourers were also made at the Park from the tallow. They were called 'dips'
