    Richard Meaney, Kilcross, was one of the best storytellers in the parish. He used to tell funny stories that happened long ago.
    Great Walkers
    Thomas Murphy, Rathleen, Inistioge, was the best walker in the parish. He could walk from Rathleen to Waterford in 1½ hours. He died at the age of 96 years about thirty years ago.
    James Delahunty, Ballavarra, was the best walker in this district He used to walk from Ballavarra to the fairs in Borris and back again.
    The greatest man in this locality for walking is Pat Malone for miles all round. During the summer he walked down to the river every night and morning. He would walk twelve miles in a day at the lowest and often did. He was always known to be a great walker.
