- The forge in this district is situated in Chapel street. It is the property of Dick Power. The roof of this forge is slated and there is one window in it. The bellous is made of strong leather and timber and there is a long handle sticking out of it and on the end of it is a cow's horn which enables one to catch a firm grip. The anvil is in the center of the floor and under it is a big bawk of timber and the anvil is pegged on to the timber. The only farm implement made by the smith is timber harrows. Every day the smith is mending ploughs, binding cart wheel pots, and shoeing asses and horses. The big fire in the forge is always lighting and when the smith wants to make a shoe he redden the iron. Under the fire is a crock in which water is kept and this water is supposed to cure chiblains.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
