  1. Upon the hill I stood
    When evening was declining
    To gaze upon the flood
    of Boyne beneath me shining
    It slowly wanders on
    unmindful of the slaughter,
    In ages fast and gone,
    That stained its lovely water
    Remains not one of those
    who fought beside that river;
Their day has had its close
    And they are gone forever.
    Then let all envycease,
    Let harty strife be slighted,
Let love and joy and peace,
    Be in our hearts united.
    That river will flow on
    Its peaceful water blended,
when we are fast and gone
    And all our quavles ended
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
