    In the Penal days...

In the Penal days a Priest was saying mass in a cottage near Crettyard. When the mass was nearly finished the men on watch ran in and told them the soldiers were coming, the people ran to their houses. But the priest was caught in a tunnel which he was trying to escape through. The soldiers killed him and his body rotted. Years afterwards he was found, but his right hand didn't rot for it was holding a chalice.
