  1. When the sky at sunset is of a pale yellow, it is the sign of rain. If the clouds are of a dark Indian red, this is the sign of rain, also if the sky at sunset is of a bright yellow, there will be rain. When the sky is orange or copper colour, it is the sign of rain and wind. People say if the sky is red in the morning, it is a sign of bad weather. The sea birds flying out early and far to sea, are a sign of fair weather. When sea birds hang about the land, or fly inland, it is the sign of stormy weather. A grey or pale yellow sunset betokens rain. A bright yellow sunset is a sign of wind. If the sun sets in thick clouds, and the eastern horizon is red, or copper coloured, rain may be expected ; but if it sets in a white haze, wind may be expected.
