  1. The commonest and most harmful weeds growing on our farm are -
    Thistles, nettles, dockens, chicken weed, ragweeds, pressia, redshank, cowlfoot, mint, and crowsfoot.
    Thistles, dockens, and ragweeds only grow in good rank soil.
    Uses of herbs:
    (i) Dockens: The juice of either the seeds or the roots, got by boiling them in water is taken as a cure for a cough.
    Large does of this are also given to horses with colds
    (ii) To cure the sting of a nettle, rub a leaf of the docken, to the sore or blister, saying three times
    "Docken, docken in and out,
    Take the sting of a nettle out."
    (i) Nettles: Nettle soup, made by boiling the stems and leaves in water, is given as medicine to persons suffering from measles. After a few drinks, the rash begins
