Long ago when there was no starch for clothes, the people made starch of their own.

Long ago when there was no starch for clothes, the people made starch of their own. This is how they made it. They got potatoes and peeled them cut them and ground them. Then they squeezed them and the juice that came from them was kept until washing day came. The man that told me this said it was better than the starch we have now, for the potatoes are full of starch. The potatoes that were left are used for boxty bread.
